Open WPL File

WPL files have two different uses, described below:

Windows Media Player

For Windows Media Player, the WPL file is a playlist of songs or videos and can be used to create dynamic playlists.

The WPL file stores a list of references to the real files, but not the files themselves, therefore they are not considered multimedia files themselves.

The WPL file is coded in the WPL 1.0 format, which comes from the XML format and is compatible for use with Windows Media Player 9 or later.

Grand Theft Auto

In this case, the WPL is a game file used by the game Grand Theft Auto (GTA) in its versions GTA 4 and GTA: San Andreas.

The WPL, for GTA, is saved in a binary file format and contains location data for items such as spawn points, weapon locations, and custom zone information.

This file is normally edited by the community as modding to create customization of the game in terms of scenery.

WPL files can be opened, prior to considering their format, using one of the following software packages:

• Windows Media Player
• GTA 4
• GTA: San Andreas
