Open PFILE File
A PFILE extension is used in a file that has been protected with Microsoft Rights Management (RMS), an application used to encrypt and protect a user's digital information.
PFILE contains a file, such as a .VSDX or .DOC file, that has been RMS encrypted.
An important detail to know is that PFILE files are protected in a generic way, while PPDF, PTXT and PJPG files are protected as read-only.
If you find a PFILE file or receive it as an email and the Rights Management (RMS) sharing application is installed on your computer, you can view a protected file by simply double-clicking it.
When RMS is installed, you can simply double-click the file to open it. Obviously you will be asked for a username and password, which would confirm that you are authorized to view the file.
Microsoft Rights Management and Azure Information Protection are equivalent and compatible with each other.
