Open MENC File

The MENC file is encrypted, and it is created by mobile devices running a Windows-based operating system.

MENC files are commonly found on removable media cards, for which it contains an encrypted version of the original file and additional header information.

Thus, the MENC file enables the secure storage of files on external storage cards.

MENC files are named with the convention filename.GUID.menc, where 'filename' is the name of the original file and GUID is a generated key that lets an encryption filter know whether or not it can decrypt the file.

MENC files are designed to be decrypted only by the device that created the file.

This means that although the files can be transferred to other Windows devices (mobile or not), the file may not be decrypted on the computer.

And furthermore, if the GUID of a MENC file is changed, the ability of the decryption program to correctly decrypt the file will be disabled.

Software to open a MENC file

MENC files are not designed to be opened manually by the user, however, to take advantage of their usefulness, it is necessary to have the device that created them, which runs under Windows.
