Open ABI File
The ABI extension files present, up to now, two applications of a different nature, namely:
DNA Chromatogram
An ABI file, in this application, contains information about the DNA sequence recorded by a DNA analysis instrument.
The ABI file is also known as an electropherogram file or DNA trace file.
The ABI can be viewed graphically using an ABI file viewer to analyze and compare DNA sequences.
In this case, the ABI file is considered a graphics file.
AbiWord
In this application, the ABI file is a plug-in file used by AbiWord, a cross-platform open source word processor.
The ABI, in this section, contains functions that add features to the program, such as a thesaurus or support for opening additional file formats.
Given the above information, an ABI file is considered a configuration file.
